Skomakarnibbå (The Shoemaker's Crag) at 700 meters is a distinctive mountain south of the Jøsenfjord in Hjelmeland, Ryfylke, that can be viewed in profile from the National Tourist Route Ryfylke (Rv 13) between Vadla and Vindsvik. The mountain's name has its origins in an old saga.
Skomakarnibbå is a great place to walk to. The walk starts at the car park before the farm buildings at Hagalid. The path, which goes through varied and attractive terrain, is 7 kilometres long, climbs 450 metres and is steep in parts. Wet bog-area before you get to mount Øksnafjellet where you can enjoy the view. 2,5 hours each way.
On a clear day there are fantastic views of the mountains, fjord and islands from the viewpoint at Skomakarnibbå.
Suitable footwear, walking sticks and fitness are essentials for this walk. You should not attempt to go out on Skomakarnibbå itself.
