Explore the sights and attractions of Ryfylke!
Ryfylke is a sheltered fjord region, located north of Stavanger and east of Haugesund.From Sandnes just follow the Ryfylke Road (Rv 13), and from Stavanger you can take the ferry to Tau. Driving from Haugesund, highway E134 will take you to Ryfylke. From Bergen you can choose the Fjord Road through Hardanger, switching to the Ryfylke Road in Røldal. If you are travelling from Oslo, highway E134 takes you across the Haukeli mountains, and through the village of Røldal to Sauda or Suldal. In the summer, those on car holiday driving to Ryfylke from eastern Norway may take the west-bound road across Suleskar to Lysebotn. See Map The Ryfylke Road (Rv 13 and Rv 520) is the main thoroughfare in our region. This scenic road takes you high and low, from sea level to altitudes of 900 m. The Ryfylke Road is an experience in itself, leading to many sights and attractions. It starts in Sandnes, crossing several fjords as it moves northwards: the Høgsfjord, Jøsenfjord and Sandsfjord. Near the sea, you can gaze out at a tempting myriad of islands, where many visitors find their holiday paradise. Take a short detour from the Ryfylkevegen Road to the Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) and dizzying views of the Lysefjord. There is nothing like it!
